Therapeutic Approach

Integrative Psychotherapy

The different facets of ourselves are intimately connected, and the healthcare which is most effective examines problems from all facets - psychological, biological, social, spiritual, relational, and societal.

Christine works within this holistic framework to guide clients in the changes they want to make. Often people come to therapy feeling very 'stuck,' but by examining oneself from this broad perspective, there are often small changes in one area which can start to affect them all.

It is also important to examine the personal relationships, groups, and larger institutions a person is connected with as part of therapy. Historically, therapy has paid less attention to these facets of our lives, and this can leave important parts of the self unhealed. This exploration can help a person recognize unhealthy systems in their life, and how to more effectively relate and advocate in a way that promotes their health and the health of others.

Theoretical Orientation

Christine works from an intentionally integrated orientation. Based upon a client's needs and preferences, a variety of approaches can be incorporated, based on what the person sees as the most pressing issues. Techniques include those which address difficult thoughts, feelings, and behaviors and promote advocacy and interpersonal effectiveness in relationships and systems.

The common approach with all clients, however, is that of providing a therapeutic relationship which is compassionate, comforting, and calming. In this environment it is most likely that a person will be able to explore themselves, choose attainable goals, and ultimately start to heal.
